CallWave Messenger
$3.95 per month
(plus Busy Call Forwarding charges)
30-day free trial.
Here's where CallWave Call Alert starts getting really useful.
Essentially, this call alert service is an Internet answering
machine. This call alert allows users to see the Caller ID of
incoming calls while they're online. At the same time, callers
can leave voice mail messages for online users.
You heard me right. CallWave Messenger takes ALL your missed
messages -- even when you're not on the computer! That's right,
it can replace your normal answering machine or voicemail service.
You might as well call it your own personal online answering
machine.
Additionally, if the caller hangs up without leaving a message,
the CallWave Messenger user sees their Caller ID. This is a
great call alert feature.
The service costs $3.95 per month, not including a Busy Call
Forwarding charge from your local phone company that varies
by company.
This service builds on CallWave Call Alert, which lets you see
the Caller ID of incoming calls while you are on the Internet.
There is a free, 30-day trial available -- but it has limited
features.
I like this plan because it provides more than just the basics
-- the computer caller ID feature lets you find out who's calling
you when you're online, and decide whether you should disconnect
and call them back. You can even listen to voicemail messages
while you're online -- saving you from disconnecting to find
out only that you got a telemarketing call :-( A solid plan,
but it still misses some of the features that I think make Internet
call alerts and answering machines even more useful.
For instance, with the next upgrade, users can click a button
to take important calls -- that's right, you can break in to
"intercept" important calls rather than letting them get sent
to voicemail. You can also see the caller's name and number,
and can also hear the caller's voice as they leave a message
(that's how you know whether to break in or not.) |
