How do I enable "Telemarketer Blocking"? Telemarketer Blocking is included free with any Connect service
level.
How does "Telemarketer Blocking"
work?
Telemarketers are really clever... they use fancy automated
(predictive) dialing systems, and they disable their Caller
ID so you won't know what number they're calling from - sort
of like hiding their phone number. CallWave's Telemarketer
Blocking feature identifies these calls and then plays a special
tone. That tone fools the telemarketer's computerized dialing
system into thinking your number has been disconnected - taking
your name off the telemarketer's list!
How will I know when I've
"zapped" a telemarketer?
When we "zap" a telemarketer call, we let you know by placing
an entry in the call list of your CallWave window. The entry
says "Telemarketer" and shows the date and time of
the call. When you place the mouse pointer over the entry
(or click on it). When you select the message and click play
(or double click on it), you'll see a "tool-tip" text box
that says "This telemarketer's call was blocked by your
CallWave software."
Will "Telemarketer Blocking"
block calls from my family and friends?
No. The Telemarketer Blocking feature does not affect calls
from your family and friends even if their calls don't have
Caller ID. It only "zaps" calls that don't have Caller ID
and come from automated dialing systems (known as "predictive
dialers"). Your family and friends don't use predictive dialers,
but telemarketers do.
Will "Telemarketer Blocking"
block calls from organizations that I belong to, such as schools,
universities, and charitable groups?
Some of these organizations use predictive dialers, but they
generally do not hide their Caller ID. Consequently, calls
from these organizations will not be "zapped," and you will
not be removed from their dialing lists. Calls will only be
"zapped" if they don't have Caller ID and if they are placed
from predictive dialing systems. Both conditions must be met.

Private Number Screeing
Private Number Screening lets you see the Online Caller ID when it would otherwise be blocked.
For callers that have blocked their caller ID, you can request or require them to enter their
phone number. Their phone number will then be displayed in your CallWave window.
- View when new call arrives and Caller ID is blocked
- View after Caller unblocks Caller ID
Once Private Number Screening is enabled, you can select one of the following options:
Option 1: Requested Caller ID
Callers that have blocked their caller ID will hear the following
( listen): "The person you are calling has requested to
see your caller ID. To send your caller ID, press 1." If the
caller does not press "1" we will still deliver their call.
Option 2: Required Caller ID
Callers that have blocked their caller ID will hear the following
( listen): "The person you are calling does not accept
calls without caller ID. To send your caller ID, press 1."
If the caller does not press "1" we will end the call.
Option 3: Neither (default)
