Call alerts - like Call Wave - combine caller ID, voicemail
and call waiting in one package. A call alert window instantly
appears on your computer screen showing you the name, number,
city, and state of your caller, just like Caller ID.
There are a number of Call Alert products out there, but I'm
telling you that CallWave Call Alerts is the best call alert
service. I'm a huge fan of Callwave.com, and here's why:
- When you're online, it lets you see who's calling you
(using Caller ID).
- It lets you decide whether to get off the Internet and
take the call, or whether to ignore it and have the caller
leave a message.
- Best part is, CallWave Call Alerts is probably going to
be cheaper than installing a separate phone line -- which
can you cost several hundred dollars.
I got tired of being out-of-touch whenever I was on the Internet.
(Going online expanded my communications options - but it reduced
my phone options!) Fortunately, I got wind of Internet Call
Alerts (you can also call them Internet answering machines,
or Internet call screening.)
Basically, I like to think of Internet Call Alerts as giving
you more flexibility -- you can take a call, or ignore it; you
can stay online or disconnect when you receive an urgent call;
you can listen to your voicemail over the phone or through the
Internet.
Even better, Call Alerts add other features beyond Caller ID
for your computer. For instance, you can have CallWave Call
Alerts record a voicemail messages and then alert you with e-mail.
That's a great call alert feature if you're at work but want
to be aware of when messages left for you at home. You can also
listen to your voicemail messages over the Web.
All of these benefits are even more important if you're trying
to run a business out of your home, since you never want to
miss an important message.
And it's always important to at least have the option to take
an incoming call -- after all, you never know when Hollywood
might be trying to reach you! :-)
It's actually pretty amazing what call alert technologies can
do. The best part might be that some of them are even free!
Of course, you usually get what you pay for, but then
again, you might be looking for basic functionality -- so check
out my section on CallWave Call Alert's free service.

know your thoughts on online call alerts. Send
